How can I build trust with people so that they want to work with me? This is a question that plagues every business known to man. When someone trusts you they will give you their business. If you don’t get business you can’t continue being a business. Well, there are a lot of ways in which you can market your business…I mean, if no one knows you exist, how could they want to work with you? But let’s go deeper than just the marketing aspect; let’s talk about how to actually become a business that people trust.
1. Have Integrity
The best way to build trust with another person or business is to show yourself to actually be trustworthy and you can’t do that without integrity. Integrity shows itself in the forms of
- Not lying, deceiving or manipulating to get your way or sell your product,
- Being transparent about what you offer
- Owning up to your mistakes, and
- Helping others for their best interest.**
**If what you offer is not beneficial to someone, don’t try selling it to them. But give them a business card and ask them to share your information with someone they know who they think would benefit from your service. This makes you seem less like a pushy sales person, helping people trust you and want to share your information with people they know.
2. Certify Your Business
Another great way to build trust is to prove that you are a real business with professional services. One way to do this is to add a picture of any certificates or awards your company has received on your company’s website. You do have a website, right? Testimonials are also a great tool that tells people “This person has worked with us and this is how their life is better because of it.”
3. Great Customer Service
People will trust those who treat them well. When your customer service is committed to helping customers/clients whether they give something back to the company or not, the more people will be likely to give you their business in return. Helping people for the sake of helping people builds trust with them. Make sure you have employees with exceptional people skills and the right mindset on your customer service team.
The backbone of your business is what will make or break you. If your backbone is one of integrity, quality service, and good communication, then you have the right foundation for becoming known as a trustworthy business. Remember that the secret to success is treating others the way you want to be treated. What ways has your business shown itself to be trustworthy?
